Trust accounting and bank statement import

The Trust account page holds your Stage 2 trust ledger: deposits, payouts and running balances per case, all in integer cents.

Importing a bank statement

From the trust account page, import a CSV, OFX or QFX file (under 5 MB). Clerkly fingerprints each file so the same statement can't be imported twice, and skips bank transactions you've already imported.

Clearing transactions

Clerkly suggests matches between bank lines and book entries — same check or reference number wins, otherwise a single unambiguous amount match. Suggestions are never applied automatically: confirm them one at a time or all at once. Bank fees and interest can be set aside with a reason.

Reconciliation

Once lines are cleared, "Reconcile with [date] balance" pre-fills the reconciliation form. Matched entries can't be unmatched after a reconciliation covers their date, so your cleared history stays intact.
